| Our Teachers |
Mercan teachers are Chinese natives, fluent in both Chinese and English. They all speak standard Mandarin dialect (Putonghua), so that students are learning the most widely spoken standard Chinese. Mercan's Teachers go through extensive training and are all qualified and experienced through teaching English in China or in the United States.
Our main priority is our students. Mercan believes in high teaching standards, high quality and fun lessons and hires only the best teachers to carry out this mission.

We offer our after school programs at schools throughout Southeastern Wisconsin including Brookfield Academy, the West Allis School District, Waukesha South High School, Nicolet High School and Grand Avenue School. We are continuing to expand. Programs are run at the beginner, intermediate and advanced levels and are a great way for students to gain valuable language skills in a fun, comfortable environment.
Mercan provides experienced teachers and a proven and innovative curriculum. Students have fun while learning valuable language skills. Curriculums always include cultural as well as linguistic instruction. Culture lessons often correspond with Chinese holidays, culminating in classroom festivities. Some courses may include Mercan hosting a traditional dumpling making class where students learn vocabulary and sentence structures relevant to making and eating food and enjoy learning how to make a traditional Chinese dish. The structure of courses is invariably informative, intriguing and fun!

4 college credits for high school juniors and seniors
Summer camp is a fun way to practice Chinese and experience studying abroad! Spend five weeks immersing yourself in Chinese language and culture in Taiyuan, one of China's oldest cities, established in 500B.C.
On the weekends visit such sites as the Great Wall, Xi'an's Terracotta Warriors, a rural village and much more. You will have the opportunity to participate in Wushu, calligraphy and other elective classes during the week. The program includes placement with Chinese families that will help you practice Chinese, introduce you to home-made Chinese cooking and make the way for lifelong friendships.

Mercan English School |
Mercan English School is a wonderful place to teach English. It is a place to grow, to spread knowledge and to learn about Chinese language and culture. Taiyuan Mercan English School was founded in 1997 as a professional English training institute and is the first private school with a full-time staff of native English speaking foreign teachers. Currently Mercan School enrolls over 6,000 students. Most students study English, although Mercan School also offers courses in Spanish and French.

What textbook do you use for the lessons?
The textbooks we use vary due to diversity of our students and their purpose of study. We choose the correct textbook for each student based on his/her age, individual needs & learning ability.

Can I apply before I graduate?
No. In order to process your visa if you are hired we need a copy of your diploma. As a result, it is best to wait until you have graduated or are very near graduating to apply.
